• Shop Profile: Ye Olde Lolly Shoppe

    It’s hard to pass by the Ye Olde Lolly Shoppe at Coventry Square Markets (Shop 58) without wanting to step inside and taste everything. And the minute you do step inside, it feels like you’ve entered another era. The store has the feel of an old-style lolly shop, as if you’ve just entered a nineteenth-century novel with an array of sentimental treats. It’s possible to indulge both your sweet tooth and a love of all things vintage in this tastefully decorated confectionery shop, which is filled with vintage décor such as old tin boxes and enamel signs at every corner, as well as antique lolly jars. This is not your typical bland supermarket array of sweets, but rather a store that seeks to evoke childhood memories of the past through its attention to detail.

    The Ye Olde Lolly Shoppe had its beginnings in 2002 as a direct result of the owners’ passion for all things Australian and all things old. Originally opening in Margaret River as a means of displaying their vast collection of vintage memorabilia and old-style Australian ‘turn of the century’ confectionery, the shop expanded into several other stores, including the beautiful new one at Coventry Square Markets. The shop now specialises in the early Humbugs and chocolates from throughout Australia, however its full range of treats includes:

    * Australian Favourites
    * American Candy
    * Dutch Licorice
    * English Sweets and Chocolate Bars
    * Fudge – English/Scottish/Aussie
    * Heritage Humbugs (More than 40 flavours)
    * Kids Stuff
    * Licorice
    * Lollipops
    * New Zealand Chocolates
    * Sugar Free Lollies and Chocolates
    * Toffees and Nougats
    * Teddies

    And many more …

    The historical style of the Ye Olde Lolly Shoppe, the delicious sweets, and not to mention the tantalising aroma within the shop, all create a heady nostalgic atmosphere to make you feel like a kid again. Be warned though: if you bring kids with you to this shop, you may never be able to get them out. This is a fantastic shop to visit on a family day out, so make sure to stop by on your next outing to the Coventry Square Markets.
