We’re in the middle of a very hot and sticky summer here in WA, and the best remedy for this is a good summer treat in the form of refreshing old-fashioned gelato. And we have the best in Coventry Village, with the gelato from our very own Skoops Gelato Café (shop 146) being previously featured in Scoop Magazine as one of the best summer treats in Perth.

Gelato is the Italian word for ‘ice cream’, however it is traditionally lighter than regular ice-cream and made with less air. It is usually made with a mixture of milk, cream, sugar, and all sorts of flavours, such as fruit, chocolate, and many others. You can trace the history of eating gelato all the way back to ancient Rome and Egypt, and it was also extremely popular in Royal Italian courts during the renaissance as a luxury food in hot weather. It’s safe to say it has always been one of the best summer treats to refresh and invigorate the body with a dose of something delicious and frozen.
